Dear LCNW members and friends,
Let’s give a big hurrah for the perfect Leo-friendly weather at the 2021 Specialty! Great Weather, Great Dogs and Great People combined for Better Together – the 2021 LCNW Summer Regional Specialty. Leo friends, new and old, gathered from four states – and even via airplane to cross the border from British Columbia.

The Traditional Club Show kicked off early Saturday morning, August 21st. It started a little earlier than usual in side-by-side rings on the great lawn at Nolte State Park. Judges Mary Decher and Jane Treiber provided written evaluations for all Leos entered. The Day:

The show moved along quickly with two rings and two judges. That was a relief to exhibitors who chose to participate in the afternoon ring time at the nearby AKC show. With a great group of people staying at the specialty site, the day continued with the LCNW annual meeting and mega raffle. The 2021-2022 board members are Erin Andersen (President), Junko Ferguson (Treasurer), Lise Brandhagen (Secretary), Wally Johnson (Member-at-Large), and Jody Woodruff (Member-at-Large). Following the annual meeting, the club did not hold the annual BBQ & potluck (due to Covid concerns). Participants who brought their own snacks and lunches enjoyed socially distant – but still together – picnics as puppies played around their feet. 

The Prizes:

The winning Leos received a rosette, an XL hedgehog toy, and a round welcome sign featuring the Leo from the LCNW logo. Class winners received ribbons with the top Leos receiving rosettes, a large hedgehog, and a small handmade cedar planter featuring the Leo from the LCNW Logo. Each show entrant took home a ring favor: an LCNW logo whiskey glass.

Congratulations and thank you to all 2021 winners and participants! Thank you to our esteemed judges. A hearty thanks to each and every volunteer, including several who volunteered for the first time (like Scribes Rachael Stevenson and Dave Tengesdal – way to dive in).

Special thanks to those who arrived early and stayed late. Thank you to each person who shared tables and canopies with the club - with a special mention to the Moe’s who allowed their tables to stay at the site, then returned after the Enumclaw AKC show to retreive them!

Did you see the impressive lineup of desirable (and funny: the custom leo poopbag dispensers) donations to the club raffle? Thank you all for your generosity – and thank you to the volunteers who set up the raffle.

 

To all who donated financially, your contributions helped provide ribbons, awards, catalogs, bottled water, and many other important details.

Again, the board would like to thank everyone who helped make the day flow smoothly – we could not have a successful day without everyone pulling together to help each other! While we did miss friends and longtime club members from the Great North (British Columbia) and across the Northwest due to the USA/Canadian Border closure and other challenges, there were many new faces we now count among our friends. It is a special thing we have as a club when folks who are not exhibiting dogs in the specialty come together to visit and volunteer - and help our Leo community thrive! Great Dogs, Great People!
